Plugging research into the creative and technology sectors

XR Network+ has partnered with CodeBase to deliver a free accelerator programme for people working in extended reality and virtual production technologies at UK universities.

The programme enabled participants to develop entrepreneurial skills and think about their research and ideas in commercial terms.

Over six weeks, the accelerator cohort gained knowledge of intellectual property emerging from research, commercial pathways and models, funding options and industry innovation methodologies.

Participants heard insights from technology startup founders and business leaders, gaining new perspectives and connections.

With two of the course sessions based in the XR Stories office and immersive technology lab, participants also learned about the potential of extended reality and virtual production technologies to enhance their projects.

Damian Murphy, Director of XR Stories and XR Network+ says: “Commercialising research can have a significant impact on economic growth but it’s not all about profit. Creating knowledge and pathways for people working in UK universities  to take their technology ideas  to market can also deliver significant impact from that research across the creative and digital sectors.”
