Prototyping, Impact and Assessment Research and Development Grants (round two)

Prototyping, Impact and Assessment (PIA) research and development (R&D) grants of up to £10,000 are available to research staff at UK universities to develop new ideas and complete existing research related to virtual production (VP) and the themes of XR Network+:

VP Integration of virtual game worlds and physical content.
Sound Design in VP.
Environments, Characters and Objects.
Digital Assets, Data, Ethics, and Intellectual Property.
AI and data-driven automation.
Translation and Impact in the Digital Economy.

PIA R&D objectives

The aims of the PIA grants are to help identify and start to solve real industry problems, and to build a clearer research agenda for VP and the use of real-time technologies in the screen and creative industries.

Ideal PIA projects are those that help establish new relationships between industry and academic partners, and that focus on short term interactions and testing ideas.

Grant agreements signed by: 16 September 2024
Projects start: 23 September 2024
Projects finish: 28 March 2025
