New £60,000 funding call now open for embedded R&D in virtual production

XR Network+ has launched a new funding opportunity for research staff at UK universities to bid for up to £60,000 to explore the transfer of knowledge between academia and industry in areas aligned with Virtual Production (VP):

  • VP Integration of virtual game worlds and physical content.
  • Sound Design in VP.
  • Environments, Characters and Objects.
  • Digital Assets, Data, Ethics, and Intellectual Property.
  • AI and data-driven automation.
  • Translation and Impact in the Digital Economy.

Successful projects will build closer collaborations between academia and existing industry partners to help establish a clear research agenda for VP and the use of real-time technologies in the screen and creative industries.

The Embedded R&D funding opportunity marks the first phase of projects to be launched by XR Network+, a five year project to establish a research agenda for VP related content creation and consumption for the creative and digital economies.

Funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), XR Network+ is led by XR Stories at the University of York in partnership with the University of Edinburgh, University of Arts London, Cardiff University and Ulster University.
